Abstract

Even though there is compelling research that alcohol ignition interlock devices reduce drunk driving recidivism significantly, these devices are used only sporadically, at best. This paper describes a conference attended by criminal justice personnel that targeted ways to increase the use of alcohol ignition interlock devices. Discussions included effective delivery mechanisms and what steps are crucial to overcome problems and improve implementation of ignition interlocks.
