Abstract
This article describes how today’s public transit is not your father’s bus. It is a connection to school, to the mall, to part-time jobs, to movie theaters, to museums, to friends and so much more. Transit is freedom, a good deal, and it’s even cool. Transit operators need to provide service that meets young riders’ needs and then tell them about it! Realizing the vital importance of attracting young people - to both ride and to better understand and support community and public transit - operators of all sizes in all types of communities are reaching out to youth in a number of innovative and effective ways.
