A new, collective public transport system

Regiotaxi KAN is a public transport system, in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region situated in the east of the Netherlands, which provides access to public buildings and other important locations and a good alternative to the car. The principal aims of the Master plan for public transport are to generate more passengers on the high-density routes and to guarantee the social function of the public transport on low-density routes. This last item has led to a focus on the integration of several different local transportation systems with the regional public transport. Regiotaxi KAN is an on-demand collective public transport system, accessible for everybody. In June 2004 there were more than 98,725 trips and 116,500 passengers.
