State Research Practices and Issues

Research practices and related issues at state levels are explored through a survey of transportation professionals involved in research. The survey was focused on state practices in formulating problem statements, development of experiment designs, and review and evaluation processes for in-house and contract research. Typical research areas and related use of tools and techniques to address research needs, and resources utilized to address analytical issues were also investigated. The outcomes of the survey will be utilized to develop guidelines in effective experimental design and data analysis that will also include comprehensive examples in applied research.
