Abstract
The current state of water supply and sewerage in urban areas in Central and Eastern Europe is generally adequate, but wastewater treatment is substantially less developed. This report presents an evaluation of municipal wastewater treatment in five countries in the region, including Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and the Slovak Republic. The report aims to evaluate the present status of water supply, sewerage, and municipal wastewater treatment; demonstrate cost-effective wastewater treatment strategies; and estimate the cost of implementing such wastewater treatment strategies.
