Abstract

VDOT's IVHS program, Virginia PROGRESS, is centered around four areas of concentration: Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS), Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), Automated Highway Systems (AHS), and Commercial Vehicle Operations (CVO). Specific goals are defined for each concentration area in the short-term, middle-term, and long-term phases of the program. These goals will be utilized to provide direction for the program, serving as catalysts for more detailed definitions of systems and projects. Finally, an organizational structure is detailed which will support the implementation of the plan.
