In order to investigate on a single buoy-mooring in harbour under heavy weather, this paper provides analytical approaches in the prediction of relation between the mooring force and yaw-motion of a ship excited by strong wind, and also discusses practical methods to reduce the force and the yaw-motion. The experimental results of 1:50 scale model cargo ship 5, 000 GT class were used to check the calculated results of computor simulation on these problems. And the model tests in wind and current carried out by making use of both the wind generator tank and the circulating water tank at our laboratory.
