Abstract

E-470, the proposed eastern half of the 470 Beltway around the Denver Metropolitan area, is the first toll road in Colorado in more than 25 years. When completed, it will be about 48 miles long, with 5 mainline toll plazas equipped with Express AVI Lanes and approximately 22 toll collection ramps also capable of AVI collection. A great deal of work has been expended to preserve the natural surroundings and to use the latest technology for safety and ease of toll collection. A traffic incident management system has been provided to enable the authority to monitor the traffic, weather, roadway, operations building, toll plazas and surrounding areas to be fully informed of all incidents and conditions.
