Travel demand management aspects of the review of the Perth city central area parking policy

This paper briefly describes the review of the Perth City Central Area Parking Policy. The review covers many aspects and has wide implications for transport and other areas. Some analysis of the road network has been undertaken as part of the review to gauge the effects of changes in parking policy. This is consistent with Travel Demand Management (TDM) principles. The analysis has focussed on changes in network performance such as travel time and fuel use. The review emphasises that parking policy is a part of the transport system which impacts the city area. Therefore while changed transport parameters are important they do not singularly prescribe the system. The TDM principles have been applied and have given the parking policy review a particular emphasis. However only limited results can be provided so other transport issues and associated areas must also be examined.
