Abstract
Over the last few years in the metropolitan public transit sector, the personal automobile, a person's own redoubt of comfort, standard of living and social status has acquired an increasing share of the market, with better infrastructure, better vehicles and an increasingly positive image. This article examines ways public transit industry could and should make an effort to ensure that the customers perceive a quality public transit service with high added values. The recommended strategy involves applying new technologies for the benefit of the service offered to the customers. The article uses the application of the latest communication technologies to provide passenger information and acquire knowledge of the demand for service as an example.
