Abstract

This study uses the 2010 travel demand model of the Fredericksburg, Virginia area, i.e. the RADCO Model, as a case example to illustrate the importance of post-calibration adjustments. It is emphasized that trip-making characteristics of a community are related to land use and socioeconomic factors. Therefore, in order to ensure reasonable results in travel demand forecasting, it is essential that post-calibration adjustment of model parameters be made. Adjustable model parameters are discussed, and the case study background is described. The RADCO model is described, and the three components that were considered for post calibration are detailed.
