Abstract

This paper examines the four modern Light Rail Transit (LRT) systems that are operating in revenue service in California. These LRTs, located in Sacramento, Santa Clara County, Los Angeles and San Diego, are used to describe and compare the systems and see what lessons have been learned regarding light rail development as the systems have matured since they opened in the period between 1981-1990.
