Abstract
This article discusses ways in which to improve quality of concrete pavement and prolong the life of damaged pavements. Since concrete pavements are known for their longevity and ease of maintenance, most of the problems are related to flows in the initial construction or lack of maintenance inspection. Among the many tips included are making pavement properly the first time, inspecting joints seasonally, and employing new, more efficient technologies for restoration. New technologies in materials, such as fast-setting, proprietary products are also aiding in the restoration process. Other recommended techniques include the use of load-transfer dowel bars, the sawing and sealing of joints, and diamond grinding to smooth or correct rough concrete pavement.
