Abstract
ELASTIC AND INELASTIC LATERAL BUCKLING STRENGTHS OF TWO PARALLEL GIRDERS WITH LATERAL AND/OR SWAY BRACING SYSTEMS BETWEEN THEM ARE DETERMINED THEORETICALLY, AND THE BRACING EFFECTS ON BUCKLING STRENGTH ARE DISCUSSED, WITH STIFFNESS PARAMETERS USED IN THE BRACING. THE OPTIMUM RELATIVE STIFFNESSES OF THE BRACING THAT PROVIDE FULL BRACING AT THE BRACING POINTS ARE OBTAINED. IN ADDITION, 11 SPECIMENS WITH DIFFERENT BRACING SYSTEMS WERE SUBJECTED TO BEND TESTS, AND THE RESULTS OF CRITICAL MOMENTS, BUCKLED CONFIGURATIONS, AND EFFECTIVE LENGTH ARE COMPARED WITH THE THEORETICAL VALUES. /AUTHOR/
