THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES THE STATE OF THE ART OF SIGNALIZATION DEVICES IN 1926 WHEN A SECOND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE DEFINED NEW ROAD SIGNS AND SIGNALS. A STUDY IS PRESENTED OF THE EVOLUTION OF VARIOUS TYPES OF SIGNAL: (1) DANGER WARNING SIGNS; (2) WARNING SIGNS; (3) LEVEL CROSSING SIGNS; (4) JUNCTION SIGNS; (5) MANDATORY SIGNS; (6) INFORMATION SIGNS; (7) DIRECTIONAL SIGNS; (8) LOCATION SIGNS; (9) BOLLARDS; (10) CARRIAGEWAY MARKINGS; (11) TRAFFIC SIGNALS.
