Abstract
The article describes a balanced transportation system and the suitability of various forms of public transportation to assist in providing adequate circulation now and in the foreseeable future. The authors note that each urban area is unique and transportation systems need to be specifically designed to meet the needs of each unique area. The article provides examples of several road layouts, compares fixed (rail or subway) and flexible (bus on an expressway) transit networks, discusses the costs of these systems, and describes terminal facilities to support these systems.
