Abstract

The fifth National Conference on Rural Public Transportation held in August 1981 in California brought together a diverse group of people to share their ideas, experiences, and opinions relating to rural public transport. In the 1980's mobile American populace is demonstrating a preference for rural living. These rural residents are likely to experience the problem of inadequate transportation. The first national assistance programs for rural public transportation can now be evalated. The first National Conference on Rural Public Transportation is viewed in retrospect and brief comments are made on the proceedings of the Fifth National Conference.
