Rb-Sr whole rock isochron and Sm-Nd whole rock-mineral isochron ages were determined for the Yoshiwa quartz diorite in the Maizuru belt, northwestern part of Hiroshima Prefecture. The Yoshiwa quartz diorite intrudes Triassic to Jurassic Kuga Group. Eight whole rock samples give a Rb-Sr isochron age of 161.6±15.2 Ma with an initial Sr isotope ratio of 0.70624±0.00010. Whole rock, felsic fraction and hornblende show an internal Sm-Nd isochron age of 169.8±13.9 Ma with an initial Nd isotope ratio of 0.512371±0.000012. These middle to late Jurassic ages are comparable with previously reported ages for gabbro-diabase and granitic rocks from the northern zone of the Maizuru Belt in the Maizuru-Ooe district, Kyoto prefecture.
