Abstract

The Land Transport Management Act 2003 requires alternative modes of passenger transport to be considered by Regional and Local Authorities. This paper gives a summary of the SkyCabs system designed for New Zealand in New Zealand with global applications and explores aspects of land transport environmental, social and economic sustainability. SkyCabs is an elevated small group automated rapid transport system (ESGART) born in NZ out of the mess of Aucklands congestion and is proposed as a sustainable NZ passenger transport system.
