ROAD WEATHER FORECASTING AS PART OF THE GERMAN ROAD STATE AND WEATHER INFORMATION SYSTEM (SWIS)

Abstract

The Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) in cooperation with the road authorities has begun to introduce SWIS as a nationwide road state and weather information system. At seven major regional weather centers with data from road weather monitoring systems, form a complete set of information including short- and long-term as well as detailed and general road weather forecasts.
