Abstract
The second part of a five-part feature on intelligent transport systems (ITS) in Spain examines the use of Spanish company Telvent's MobiFast public transport management system in the build up to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. The MobiFast system provides a solution for public rail transport operators, suburban and underground railways, allowing station access control for users, ticket validation and ticket sales to be simultaneously managed. It can be extended to bus and tramway transportation systems with ValTick technology. Fare integration among different public transport operators is conducted using the ClearingTrans system. MobiFast can be interfaced to Web-park, Telvent's car park management solution. The automatic fare collection system will be installed in the Tianjin Metro project in China.
