Abstract
The auditory midbrain has been shown in the preceding chapters to be a collection of nuclei that differ individually in cytoarchitecture and connectivity. In order to understand the functions of the auditory midbrain in hearing it is essential to relate physiological and experimental behavioral data to specific sites within this complex of nuclei. It is insufficient to relate, for example, unit properties to the “inferior colliculus.” These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
