DEVELOP SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM OF CHINA

The paper shows that China is an immense territory and is overpopulated, has the great amount of nature resource, but has less for the possession of every person. It is short of soil resource, and it is badly polluted; the distribution of the people is not symmetric, most of them live in the east. The existing transportation system can't meet the demand of development. In the view of future, the development will lead to larger amounts of carrying demand, especially in the east. The transportation system had to be greatly developed in order to fit the requirement. The development of transportation will create more pollution. Then there is an acute conflict between its development and more pollution. Then there is an acute conflict between the development of transportation and the environment and resources. Existing development modes can't resolve this conflict. To solve this problem, we should change the conception of development, adapt to sustainable modes. The sustainable transportation system is an integrated, harmonious, efficient system, its energy consume is low, and produces less amount of pollutant. Its structure is reasonable, each means of transportation exerts its own function. They have competition on the one hand, and they cooperate on the other hand. The system can meet the existing and coming requirements. We should set up an integrated transportation system and use the existing transportation system completely in order to bring the idea to success.
