Abstract
Light rail transit (LRT) is an effective transit mode which can alleviate road congestion in cities and contribute to a reduction in air pollution. This article looks at the revival of LRT in North America, giving an overview of the various LRT systems currently in operation, under construction, or entering revenue service before the end of this century.
