Abstract

Measuring travel time reliability of a transportation system is becoming more important due to increased economics activities and improvements in quality of life. Travel time reliability is useful attribute to the transport system planners as a new evaluation measure and for users as new travel related information to reach the destination in time. The main objective is to evaluate operational characteristics of urban road corridors by considering travel time reliability measures. It is measured in terms of travel time reliability indices such as planning time index and buffer time index. The study has been carried out for an urban arterial corridor in Delhi and travel time data for continuous one working week on a daily basis in morning and evening hours for car users. Based on the limited study the result provides the planning time and buffer time to reach the destination. To establish the accuracy of the travel time variations, for the study area, it needs to be carried out for a longer period. However, this study provides travel time reliability measurement approaches, methodology for data collection, analysis and interpretation.
