Abstract
The sand shiner seems morphologically very well suited to its habitat. Of course its realized niche is limited by biotic and abiotic factors, however, it has prospered in many lakes and streams. The continued success of the sand shiner in the future depends almost solely on how it deals with the changes man will undoubtedly make on its environment.
