Abstract

THE UNINTERRUPTED SUPPLY OF HIGH QUALITY FILLER TO THE MIXING PLANTS IS AN ESSENTIAL PREREQUISITE FOR SUCCESSFUL CONSTRUCTION. LIMESTONE, SPECIALLY GROUND FOR USE AS FILLER MEETS THESE REQUIREMENTS AND CAN BE EMPLOYED UNDER THE MOST DEMANDING CIRCUMSTANCES. LABELLING GROUND ROCK MINERALS AS OR FILLERS DOES NOT APPEAR JUSTIFIED, BECAUSE MORTARS OF SIMILAR DENSITY AND VISCOSITY CAN BE PRODUCED WITH BOTH KINDS OF FILLER. IN THE CASE OF WEAK FILLER THE USE OF MORE FILLER AND LESS BINDER, IN THE CASE OF STRONG FILLER MORE BINDER AND LESS FILLER IS INDICATED. THE RESIDUAL FILLER WHICH IS COLLECTED DURING PRODUCTION IN DUST REMOVAL PLANTS DOES NOT REPRESENT A PURE FILLER, BECAUSE IT CONSISTS OF A MIXTURE OF SAND AND FILLER. THIS MATERIAL CAN THEREFORE BE USED ONLY TO A LIMITED EXTENT AS FILLER. ECONOMIC CONSIDERATIONS AS WELL AS ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS OF DUST REMOVAL WHEN THE POSSIBLE DUST YIELD CAN REACH 6 T/H DEMAND THAT AS MUCH OF THIS RESIDUAL FILLER AS POSSIBLE SHOULD BE RECYCLED.
