Abstract
A STUDY WAS MADE TO DETERMINE THE MEAN ACCIDENT RATE AT HEAVILY TRAVELED CROSS INTERSECTIONS IN THE MELBOURNE METROPOLITAN AREA. THE MEAN RATE AT 124 SIGNALIZED INTERSECTIONS WAS 6.22 PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENTS PER 10 MILLION VEHICLES THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. THE MEAN RATE AT 16 UNSIGNALIZED INTERSECTIONS WAS FOUND TO BE 5.68. /HSL/
