Abstract
This article describes the design and construction of the Dame Point Bridge in Jacksonville, Florida, with a focus upon the bridge's span. It has set a U.S. record for the longest span for cable-stayed bridges of either concrete or steel, and a Western Hemisphere record for a concrete cable-stayed structure. The $62 million bridge was among six winners of the Portland Cement Association's 1990 Concrete Bridge Awards Program.
