Abstract
Lateral pressure behaviour of an unsaturated expansive soil along the looped stress path was investigated in the laboratory. Two series of one dimensional consolidation test were carried out using a newly developed oedometer apparatus with devices for controlling suction and measuring lateral pressure. The test results show that the two tests are particularly interesting since they reveal most of the pattern of the behaviour of lateral pressure and Ko of expansive soil.
