Abstract

The New Wood House and The New Glass House are the first in a line of innovative and indispensable books that explore the design potential and demands of the primary materials in your home. Subsequent titles will include The New Stone House, The New Metal House, and more. These are heavily visual books with great photography, floor plans, and accessible texts that discuss the benefits and challenges of materials used, design goals, and the context in which each house is built. More inspirational than how-to, they are intended to serve as resources for anyone building, renovating, or updating their home. Each book will feature 15 projects from five to ten architects, with designs both classic and cutting edge. The majority of the houses will not have been previously published.
