Abstract

Community bus is a new type of fixed route bus which covers the area between that of taxi and conventional bus on the prmise that it is subsidized or planned by local government. It secures the mobility of the limited mobility people or the transport of poor people, and supports walking in urban centers. In this paper, Japanese community bus is different from Community Bus of the United Kingdom. Some examples are introduced of community bus in the country. Community bus is evaluated by users from the point of amenity, safety, information system, vehicle design and so on. First, characteristics of community bus are described. Second, its quality of service is evaluated from users side. Furthermore it is evaluated by importance and satisfaction.
