Income diversity and farming systems: Modelling of farming households in Lombok, Indonesia

Abstract

A consideration of off-farm activity and its effect on agricultural production. Using linear programming models, this study looks simultaneously at farm and non-farm activity. Results suggest that income from off-farm activity enables households to choose more productive and profitable production systems.
