Abstract
This paper describes the development of a system designed to provide details of accident types by location of accidents. Accident types are categorised according to the 'road user movement' for road users involved in the initial event of an accident. The location of the accident is described by the code of the intersection where the accident occurs at an intersection or by two intersections where the accident occurs between intersections, ie mid block. By merging information of accident location and accident type in a computer data base system, a useful tool is available to traffic engineers, traffic planners, town planners, road designers, researchers and others in obtaining data on road accidents and using such data in designing accident countermeasures and measuring the effectiveness of such countermeasures (a).
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
Method details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Application details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
