Abstract
The deterministic relationships between the traffic stream variables - flow, density and speed, on the roads of a city, are studied and established using the data collected through a photographic traffic survey. Different traffic flow models have been studied by using the least square fit to the data. The tests of significance of regression are also made to test the strength of relationship. These models can be used in studying the capacity, behaviour of traffic flow and traffic wave analysis, with the objective of improving present behaviour of traffic and planning future facilities on a scientific basis.
