Abstract

The use of the TGV had a major impact on their design, operation and maintenance. The cost of maintaining high quality track used only by TGVs is less than 1% of the total cost including depreciation. Descriptions are provided for : high speed track design; track structure; organizing maintenance; measuring track quality; research database; and cost of track maintenance.
