Abstract

Acttnoypyga echinites \nknown as Deep-water red fish was collected \nand four tonnes were processed at Keelakarai. This \nis considered as one of the new resources for the \nIndian Beche-de-mer industry. During 1990 this \nspecies was fished and processed from Keelakarai, \nPeriapatnam, Vedalai and Pamban. It is locally \nknown as "Paar attai" since it is found to be \nattached to Paars (rocks) in the Gulf of Mannar
