Abstract
In this practical guide to all the tools, techniques and skills needed to create beautiful and unique handmade papers and books, topics are arranged on a step-by-step basis, allowing both the beginner and the more experienced crafter to acquire skills and complete the projects with simplicity. Techniques for papermaking include: pulling a sheet; embossing paper; marbling; and working with different textures. The section on bookbinding explains how to create a hand-bound book, and goes on to suggest ways of embellishing and enhancing its appearance. Further bookbinding projects include an accordion book, a Japanese-bound album, a hardcover portfolio, memory booklets and a coptic-bound journal with sections of handmade paper.
