Abstract
This report reviews the special facilities available to reduce bus travel times and so encourage more riders. The facilities are: (a) exclusive bus lanes and movements on freeways and arterial roads, (b) bus and high occupancy vehicle lanes, (C) preferential freeway entry, (D) bus signal pre-emption, and (e) area traffic control to favour buses. Of these, exclusive bus lanes and movements on arterial roads, preferential freeway entry and area traffic control are considered the most cost-effective. Following this, there is a review of brisbane's bus services particularly those run by the Brisbane City Council. (A) /TRRL/
