Abstract
The accident investigation process consists of the elements of data collection, analysis, and report writing, but inadequate data collection and the skills of the accident investigator can affect the quality of the investigation report. This chapter discusses the accident investigation process, including the safety of the accident investigator at the accident site, the preservation and collection of evidence, the evaluation of evidence, methods of analysis, and the preparation of the investigation report.
