Abstract
This paper evaluates the possibilities in strengthening the east-west transit and traffic operations on the Baseline Road/Heron Road Corridor. With increasing traffic volumes, congestion is becoming an issue on this major arterial. This study included analyzing and evaluating a variety of site specific traffic and transit measures in order to minimize the total travel time delay. Since an impact on transit vehicles has a significant effect on passenger travel times, this study analyzed how implementing various transit priority measure would benefit the riders and how this in turn would impact the general traffic. Results from this study recommend the removal of bus bays, combining bus stops, and redesigning some major intersections to accommodate bus queue jump lanes and other transit priority measures.
