Abstract
Sixtythree commercial hybrid grain sorghums were evaluated for field grain production and other agronomic characteristics in a double crop, rainfed test at the University of Arizona Marana Agricultural Center in 1983. This test was planted dry on June 30, 1983 and irrigated up on July 1, 1983. It was grown on single row 40-inch beds and received about 40 lbs/acre of N applied preplant. Total irrigation water applied was 8 inches. The crop received 18.32 inches of rainfall for a total water application of 26.32 inches. This test was under about one foot of slow-running flood waters for about 48 hours on October 2 and 3, 1983. Much of the rainfall occurred in August, September and October. The entries were combine-harvested on December 9, 1983.
