Abstract
This paper concentrates on the performance of existing Busway Transit systems. It distinguishes two families of priorities: bus lanes and busways. The survey results indicate that with well designed and maintained infrastructure, and appropriate operating methods, busway transit can carry high passenger volumes at attractive commercial speeds. Issues such as the impacts on general traffic, environmental impacts and organizational arrangements must be dealt with in judging busway feasibility and viability under particular circumstances.
