Abstract
Model scale testing, in 20th scale, of the CCGS icebreaker PIERRE RADISSON propeller was undertaken to show that model test results can be used to predict the full scale performance of propellers in ice infested waters. Three representatives full scale propeller/ice encounters were selected for testing and reproducing values of torque and thrust in model scale. Two of the three incidents show, under certain assumptions, reasonable agreement between full scale and model.
