Abstract
Since traffic congestion occurs daily in Tokyo, restrictions on traffic and regular operation of buses as public transportation are expected to be an effective solution. Although the solution might include time-framed bus lanes and reversible lanes in specific areas on multi-lane roads, they cannot be applied to single-lane roads. Under such circumstances, traffic signals that give priority to buses have been used, which unfortunately have resulted in ineffective operation for various reasons. In order to solve this problem, a new bus-priority control traffic system was developed and put into actual use. Since this system allows particular vehicles to go in certain directions when used in combination with signal phase changing, applications in various places are expected.
