This article describes some of the exciting applications of global positioning system (GPS) technology being used today in bus and other forms of public transit, and what will be accomplished as more and more transit agencies adopt these systems. In particular, transit systems employing GPS technology in Denver, Colorado; Portland, Oregon; and Rehoboth, Delaware, are looked at as case examples.
