Abstract
New road markings have been added to a 13 meter wide major road on the E4 in the county of Kronoberg. The lane width has thus been changed from 3.75 m to 5.50 m and the width of the shoulders from 2.75 m to 1 m. The lanes and shoulders are separated by a continuous 30 cm wide edgeline of the Kamflex type instead of the earlier 10 cm wide intermittent line. The test road was studied with repect to lateral position, distribution of lateral position, spot speed, journey speed, overtaking frequency, overtaking behavior, average platoon length, rear-end behavior, visual guidance and accidents. Furthermore, road user attitudes to the new section have been studied.
