Abstract

This article deals with microbial inoculants of \nN,-fixing bacteria, vesicular arbuscuJar \nmycorrhiwe (VAM), phosphate solubilizers and \nplant-growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and \nThey, role in production of crops. Factors \ndetermining the success of inoculants technology \nalong with a survey on their field performance are \ndiscussed. The rhizobial inoculants are deals in \ngreater detail as a general example, and for the \nether inoculants the discussion is restricted 10 the \npoints which are specific to a particular group of \ninoculants. To popularize biofertilizers amongst \nfarmers a holistic approach covering production of \nquality inoculants, selecting areas which need \ninoculationi, raining and educating extensionl staff \n. and appropriate crop management practices is \nsuggested \n
