Abstract
This paper discusses the current legislative and regulatory emission control requirements, including the new Clean Air Act Amendments, and the technologies that are currently available to control pollutant emissions from gas turbines. This includes heavy duty gas turbine combustion system design related to the formation and control of emissions of nitrogen oxides (NO{sub x}). Systems that limit or lower NO{sub x} will be discussed such as how and why water/steam injection lowers NO{sub x} emissions, how SCR works and how the new GE dry low NO{sub x} combustor works to limit NO{sub x} to very low levels without water/steam injection or SCR.
