ERROR ANALYSIS ON WRITTEN PRODUCTION OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS OF TO’BANDAR SCHOOL PATANI THAILAND

This resarch is aimed at describing the error made by the students of To’Bandar School at Thailand in making paragraph. The method of collecting data is test. The data are categoried into two sources errors. Some of the errors are identified as interlingual transfer and vergeneralization, and the error type based on linguistic category. The writer takes 23 students of Junior High school as the subject of the research. The result of this research shows that there are 73 items of errors which occurred in the students’ writing. There are omission of article, the use of wrong article, omission of preposition, the use of wrong preposition, omission of –s in the plural marker, the use of wrong possessive pronoun, omission of possessive pronoun, omission of possessive markers, additional of possessive markers, omission of be, the use of are instated of is, the use of is instated of are, use wrong verb have/has, omission of infinitive to, the use of wrong verb to be, omission of –s/-es in verb of present tense, the use of simple past tense instated present simple tense, omission of subject, the use double subject, the use of That, the use of Thai construction, the use misspelling. The errors are the result of interlingual transfer and overgeneralization. Based on the result of the study, the writer suggests that English teachers pay close attention to the teaching English writing especially in the teaching a short paragraph more seriously.
